Posted on December 5, 2023 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The 2023 Winter Celebration in the Springs returns on Saturday, December 23, from 1-3pm, at 22 Boyes Blvd. (at the Post Office lot).

The family-friendly event hosted by the Springs MAC in partnership with Sonoma Immigrant Services with additional support from the Fairmont Sonoma  Mission Inn and Sonoma Valley Fire.

Santa Claus, arriving via fire engine, will pose of photos and have small gifts for the first 100 attendees.

“Last year’s event was colorful, welcoming, and memorable,” said Supervisor Susan Gorin. “Attendance surpassed our  expectations, and it was a delight to gather in celebration and joy.”

Cookies, hot chocolate, coffee, and water will be provided by the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, and DJ Refugee will liven the event with bilingual holiday tunes. Members of the Springs MAC and Sonoma Immigrant Services will be on hand to receive community ideas, answer questions, and  join the community in celebrating the season.

“The goal for this event is to unite the community, gather, and celebrate the accomplishments of  2023, give away presents to our community children, and reaffirm our neighbors that the Springs  Municipal Advisory Council is working to improve the wellbeing of our community members,” said Jesus Alcaraz, who coordinated the event along with fellow MAC member Maricarmen Reyes.

Attendees are encouraged to walk, ride a bike, use public transportation or carpool to this event.  Parking will be available at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn employee parking lot on Bonita  Way off Vallejo Avenue.

“This is a great community event. Last year the smiles  were bright, and the excitement was palpable. We look forward to this year’s event” said Maite  Iturri, Chair of the Springs MAC.

The Winter Celebration will take place with the backdrop of the Boyes Boulevard-Highway 12 fence adorned with festive decorations. This event will take place rain or shine.

“With this year marking the second Winter Celebration in the Springs, we hope to continue to build on  these successful community events to foster connectedness and forge a sense of belonging,” Gorin said.
