The final days of the small makers store, Community Supply, are also the final days for many of our local artisans who sell their wares in the shop. Community Supply’s website reads: “We support small makers. We value the makers, the solution finders, the innovators, the courageous, the quirky, the storytellers. We align with the artsy and the crafty. We believe humans are capable of amazing feats when we feel healthy and whole, and we are committed to helping people step into their wholeness. We believe that who we give our money to matters, and that sustainability means taking responsibility. We highlight products made by women and people of color because the scales have been tipped away from our success for too long. We know that community makes us healthier, and by sharing our collective knowledge we are all made stronger and wiser.”
This home to local goods is no more, and many of our local artists will feel the loss, as will our community of shoppers who depend on this local outlet.
Earlier this year, Community Supply hosted a carnival for Nunozoo, a local handmade zoo of quirky and lovable animals made by local artist Nao Kobayashi (nunozoo.com).
There is a skate shop inside Community Supply (Valley of the Moon Skate Shop), opened by Nick Koerner in November of 2023.
Local soap, jewelry, greeting cards, clothing, botanicals, art and more all called Community Supply home.
When Community Supply (645 2nd Street West in the Sonoma Marketplace Shopping Center behind Round Table) closes its doors at the end of September, we are losing more than a retail space, we are losing our artists’ outlet.
