The City of Sonoma is excited to announce that the Sonoma Valley High School Dragons Football Team will be the next honorees in the “Celebrate Sonoma” program. Sonoma City Council will recognize the team during the Sonoma City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 18, 2024, at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers.
Under the guidance of Coach Max Pond, the Dragons have achieved remarkable success, finishing the season with an impressive 12-1 record, a dramatic improvement from last year’s 3-7 finish. This season, the team became the Redwood Empire Conference Mountain League Champions with a perfect 6-0 record. Their undefeated 12-0 start is the best since the 1992 team went 9-0-1 and ended with a 10-1-1 record. Notably, the Dragons had not played for a section championship since 1990.
Several players have earned individual honors for their outstanding performances:
- Player of the Year: Hudson Giarritta
- Defensive Player of the Year: Daunte Gonzalez
- 1st Team Offense: Dalan Lopata (QB), Cayden Waldrop (RB), Austin Hughes (WR), Anthony DeTorres (OL)
- 1st Team Defense: Austin Hughes (DB), Spencer Owen (LB), Brendan Wroblewski (LB)
- 2nd Team Offense: Benicio Reyes (TE), Daniel Pucci (OL), Sam Stovall (OL)
- 2nd Team Defense: Connor Cooper (DB), Anthony DeTorres (DL)
Celebrate the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of the Sonoma Valley High School Football Team. The City of Sonoma is proud to honor them for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community.
