A San Francisco-based startup is redefining the self storage experience to be more convenient, more cost effective, and better for the environment. By bringing the category into the sharing economy, Stash-It makes use of existing space while providing a method for homeowners to generate substantial income.
“The demand for storage space continues to increase. But self storage facilities are costly, inconvenient, and hard on the environment,” said Stash-It Founder, Kurt Winter. “Stash-It pairs unused residential or commercial space with individuals looking for storage space. By taking this sharing economy approach, Stash-It creates cost savings for the Stasher, a truly passive income stream for the Host, and a greener solution to meet the nation’s growing demand for storage space.”
As millions of American homeowners face job losses, furloughs and wage reductions, a San Francisco start-up is pairing unused residential or commercial space with individuals looking for storage space.
“The demand for storage space continues to increase. But self storage facilities are costly, inconvenient, and hard on the environment,” said Stash-It Founder, Kurt Winter, founder of Stash-It. “By taking this sharing economy approach, Stash-It creates cost savings for the Stasher, a truly passive income stream for the Host, and a greener solution to meet the nation’s growing demand for storage space.”
Estimated income for Hosts can run several thousand dollars a year. Winter said. “Renting out a standard two car garage can bring in $500 a month, and individuals with space for RV parking can make $200 a month.”
It’s all done on an app, where hosts create a listing for the available space (or spaces) and sets a price.
“Our mission is to put more money back in the hands of everyday Americans,” said Stash-It Co-Founder and President, Jeremy Hass. “With the current pandemic and future economic crisis, making a few hundred dollars more a month could be the difference between keeping your house or downsizing. In good times, the extra income can help consumers get out of debt, save for a rainy day, invest toward retirement or afford their dream vacation.”
