Crews quickly contained an ominous-looking, traffic-snarling fire in the largely wooden structure along Highway 12, at the foot of West Spain Street, just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
Sonoma Valley firefighters responded to multiple reports of smoke and flames at the site, which consists of a Napa Auto Parts store, storage sheds and a historic blacksmith barn.
No injuries were reported.
Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue said crews arrived on the scene “to find the building partially engulfed in flames and made a quick attack with a full first alarm.”
SVFD responders, joined by crews from nearby agencies, confined the blaze to a 1,500 square foot storage area. The main storefront and barn did not burn, according to a SVFR statement.
Teams from CalFire, Schell Vista Fire Department, Kenwood Fire Department, Eldridge Fire Department, and Petaluma Fire Department were all part of the effort.
“Thank you to our assisting agency neighbors, and thank you to all our Sonoma Valley community for avoiding the area to keep crews safe while they worked on the scene. It takes a community like ours to stay #sonomastrong #SVFD”
