Bummer. You’ve been called out of town on business and your son is playing in the season opener of the Sonoma Dragon’s baseball game that afternoon. Even worse, you’re going to miss the Sonoma City Council meeting in the evening, where your spouse is giving a presentation. Think you’re out of luck? Not even close.
With the new programming capabilities of SVTV27, you can relax and catch both the game and the meeting on your computer via the Internet from anywhere in the world.
Beginning July 11, SVTV27 and KSVY will begin broadcasting 24/7 over the Internet from SVTV27.com.
The increased programming capability will enable Sonoma residents across the Valley – and the world – to access the station at any given time of the day or night via their computers.
“We’ll be streaming live in real time so that people can watch all of the sports, all of public meetings and TV shows via the Internet,” said Bob Taylor, SVTV27 program director. “During some periods, there will be 12 hours worth of straight shows, depending on how busy the week is.”
Indeed, during basketball season with four games each week in addition to the other shows, the broadcast will run almost continuously, according to Taylor.
“We’ll still be broadcasting on TV for those individuals with Comcast. But for everyone else who couldn’t previously access the station, they now can, and from anywhere in the world,” said Taylor, adding that the Internet broadcast will exactly mirror the television.
SVTV27 will also air a new show entitled, “Sonoma Drive-In,” broadcasting classic horror and science fiction films. Patterned after Bob Wilkins’ famous ‘70s show “Creature Features,” the films will be hosted by KSVY radio on-air staff and other local personalities.
“Sonoma Drive-In” will air Saturdays at 10 p.m. and replay on Wednesdays at midnight. The inaugural film will be George A. Romero’s 1968 zombie classic, “Night of the Living Dead,” airing July 25 Hosts for that broadcast will be locals Rick Love and Joe Koch from KSVY.
“I’m excited,” said Taylor. “The increased programming gives me an opportunity to do some new things and ‘Sonoma Drive-In’ is a fun new twist for the station. I really think the public will like it.”
