The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District staff is inviting the public to discuss the preliminary management plan for Montini Open Space Preserve. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 27 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, in Burlingame Hall at the First Congregational Church, 252 W. Spain St.
The 98-acre Montini ranch was purchased by the open-space district in late 2005. This prominent viewshed for the city of Sonoma is located partially in the city and partially in the unincorporated part of the County behind General Vallejo’s home on West Spain Street.
Since the purchase, the district has worked with experts and the community to develop a preliminary plan for management of the site. The goal is to open it to the public for walking and hiking. Plans for staging areas, parking, and potential trail patterns will be presented with time for questions and discussion to follow.
Interested members of the community are encouraged to come and learn about the future of the Preserve and offer their comments on the plan. For more information, please contact Leslie Lew at 707.565.7360.
