When Adele Harrison Middle School opened, Dan Scudero was its first principal.
On Thursday, the Napa Valley Unified School District hired Scudero to take over as principal of American Canyon Middle School.
“I am going to miss him. He’s been an invaluable asset to the administrative team,” said said school superintendent Barbara Young.
One of Scudero’s accomplishments, Young said, was setting up the dual-immersion Spanish- and English-language program at Altimira for graduates of Flowery Elementary School’s dual-immersion program.
“He’s been very instrumental in building the dual-immersion program that continues the Flowery dual-immersion,” she said.
Young hopes to find a replacement for Scudero by July 30. If the district can’t find a permanent replacement, it will hire an interim principal.
Young said she knew that Scudero was considering the American Canyon job, but his departure wasn’t official until Thursday, when the Napa board hired him.
Scudero couldn’t be reached for comment. He left for vacation Friday, Young said.
