Commission on the Status of Women seeking volunteers

The Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is currently seeking volunteers to serve on the commission.
The CSW was established by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 5, 1975, with the charge to “take affirmative action to eliminate the practice of discrimination and prejudice on account of gender in the areas of housing, education, community service and related fields.”
The purpose of the commission is to promote equal rights and opportunities that enhance the quality of life for all women and girls and to address issues of discrimination and prejudice that negatively affect women in Sonoma County.
Commissioners are appointed to serve a two-year term by the county supervisor in whose district they reside. Currently there are vacancies in District 2, 3, 4, and 5. The commission meets the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.
