News Briefs New Bleachers for Sonoma Valley High School Staff Photo. Sonoma Valley High School unveiled their new green-and-white bleachers during Tuesday night’s Back to School Night. The new bleachers, which spell out SVHS when pushed in for storage, replace the original set installed around 1955. According to Vice Principal Glenn Moll the new bleachers are American with Disabilities Act compliant with aisles and handrails, making it easier for people to navigate. Some space for seating was lost but the high school rectified the situation by adding two sets of smaller bleachers at either end of the basketball court. Project SEED Staff Photo. Raise your hand if you’re excited about math! Students in Craig Madison’s third-grade class at El Verano School were learning algebra this week and they didn’t even know it. Madison has been working with a group called Project SEED which came to the school to give a series of demonstration classes designed to teach high level math concepts to the youngest students. Principal Maite Iturri said the school is trying out the classes to see what sort of traction they receive. “So far it’s been pretty powerful. The students are completely engaged and the instruction has been fun and interactive. It’s very exciting,” said Iturri, whose next step is to do some research and find funding options should El Verano decide to go ahead with the program.
