Día del Niño in Sonoma

The children and young people of Sonoma’s folkloric dance group Quetzalén delighted a packed house at Hanna Center on April 23 to celebrate Día del Niño/Children’s Day.

The event was sponsored by the Springs Municipal Advisory Commission which gave a small gift to each child present. Comida para Todos/Food for All provided snacks for the children before the performance. Over 350 people enjoyed the celebration, which is an important annual event in Mexico. More than 55 young dancers performed traditional dances from seven states of México, showcasing fabulous, traditional costumes.

Quetzalén will dance next at the annual La Luz-sponsored Cinco de Mayo celebration, being held this year in Larson Park on Sunday, May 7, open to the public from 12-5 PM.
