Sonoma Hospital halts flu shots

Sonoma Valley Hospital will no longer dispense regular flu shots.

In a statement released yesterday, Chief Operating Officer Mary Kelly announced as of today, “The hospital will no longer be providing regular flu vaccine to the public.”

Kelly said the hospital is waiting to learn from suppliers when it will receive vaccines for the H1N1 virus. As soon as that information is available, the hospital will let the community know.

In the statement, the hospital recommended that people wishing to receive the vaccine go to the Sonoma Safeway or Pharmaca. Rite Aid and Longs Drugs will be offering it at a later date, it said.
