Emotion, memories, and tamales. The Sonoma Community Center’s annual Altar Lighting captured the spirit of Dia de Muertos Thursday evening.
More than 200 visitors wandered the altar, enjoyed food, created art, and watched a wonderful dance performance by Grupo Folklorico Quetzalen.
The display will be open throughout the weekend. “Thank you to local artist Jim Callahan for creating the sculptural altar we use every year, and to our sponsors for making this such a successful event,” said the SCC’s Cat Smith (above, with new friend).
