San Mateo police have arrested two suspects in connection with the Tuesday morning robbery of the Maloney home.
Amber Marie True, 29, was found in possession of a credit card belonging to Susan Maloney during a routine traffic stop in San Mateo. Susan Maloney and her husband John, 45, and two children died in a crash on Highway 37 on Saturday night.
Entry to the empty Fryer Creek Drive house was made sometime between midnight and 7 a.m., when a neighbor noticed signs of a break-in. The thieves had forced their way into the garage from a side door, then broke through another door into the house. Once inside, they ransacked each room before making a getaway in the family’s car.
Following True’ arrest, authorities located her boyfriend, Michael Vincent Guiterrez, 26, who was driving the stolen Maloney vehicle, a 2006 Nissan 350Z.
According to Sonoma Police Chief Bret Sackett, other property that had been taken from the Maloney’s home was also found. A search warrant was served for Guiterrez’s home, where a large cache of stolen items. The loot included financial records, jewelry, and electronics, among other personal property.
Chief Sackett indicated that most, if not all, of the stolen property had been recovered.
True and Guiterrez are being held at Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. They were each arrested on suspicion of burglary and vehicle theft.
