Cirque Du Soleil donates $1,000 to Pets Lifeline

Pets Lifeline received an unexpected Christmas gift from Cirque Du Soleil’s corporate headquarters in Las Vegas this week. The $1,000 donation was made possible through the donated performances of Cirque artists at the Black Cat Cabaret held in September 2009 and Cirque du Soleil’s unique Citizen’s Rewards program.

Leading the way with creative corporate giving programs, Cirque’s Citizen’s Rewards Program aims to encourage and support employees who donate their time to recognized nonprofit organizations around the country when the mission of the nonprofit is particularly dear to the individual employee. The guiding principle is a collective of Cirque-staff volunteer efforts can actively contribute to building a more just world.

“It was extraordinary to have 12 Cirque artists donate hundreds of hours in rehearsal and performance for our shelter animals,” said Desiree Stinson, executive director of Pets Lifeline. “But to have Cirque du Soleil also reward them by financially supporting their chosen cause is quite simply inspiring.”

As an unrestricted gift, the $1,000 will be utilized for the greatest needs of the homeless animals of Sonoma Valley and will make a considerable contribution to Pets Lifeline’s annual holiday giving campaign which will continue through Dec. 31, 2009. Money raised from the holiday campaign will enhance shelter offerings by providing much needed funds for direct animal care, medical expenses and shelter maintenance.
