Following the resignation of Dr. Pamela Martens last week, current Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Louann Carlomagno has been selected by the Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees as superintendent, pending completion of a written agreement.
The board met in closed session on Wednesday morning to consider the vacancy. Carlomagno’s appointment was announced at noon.
Martens, who was hired in 2008, served as superintendent for just 18 months. She was hired following the resignation of Dr. Barbara Young.
With the principal at Sonoma Valley High School retiring at the end of this year, new leaders will be filling two of the most visible and influential positions in our local public schools.
