A search committee has been formed to find a successor to Sonoma Valley Hospital CEO Carl Gerlach.
Gerlach announced on January 7 that he would step down at the end of June, a point “where the crucial decisions will have been made and the master planning will have been done.”
The team responsible for finding his replacement was announced last week by the Board of Directors of the Sonoma Valley Health Care District.
The search committee consists of a SVH physician, one nurse/administrator, one community member, and two SVHCD board members, Chair Bill Boerum and Second Vice Chair Madolyn Agrimonti.
The three other members are: Dr. Brian Sebastian, president of the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee; Mary Kelly, Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer of the Hospital; and Kevin Carruth, Vice Chair of the District’s Citizens Bond Oversight Committee.
Boerum spoke highly of the panel members. “Dr. Sebastian has the respect of his peer physicians and plays an important role in our effort to recruit more doctors to the Valley, “ he said. “Mary Kelly brings to the task the perspective of a long career in nursing and hospital administration. Kevin Carruth, in addition to his CBOC involvement, is a long-time and accomplished consultant on major capital projects to various government entities.”
“(We) are very encouraged by the willingness of these very busy people to engage in this critically important effort for our hospital,” said Boerum.
Boerum said the search committee’s first tasks are to identify the professional qualifications and personal characteristics sought in a new CEO, and determine the resources needed to conduct the search. An executive recruiter will likely be engaged to conduct the search, Boerum said.
The search committee will interview the candidates and make a recommendation to the Board of Directors, which will make the final decision.
