A head-on collision on Highway 12 claimed the life of a 22-year-old Glen Ellen woman and injured four men late Saturday night.
Sarah York, 22, was driving eastbound when she crossed the double-yellow median to pass another vehicle on a curve near Arnold Drive. Her 2009 Hyndai collided head-on with a 2001 Toyota truck.
York, alone in the car, was pronounced dead on the scene at about 11:30 p.m.
The four men in the truck sustained a range of injuries. The driver, Mario Dominguez, 24, of Sonoma, was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with major injuries.
Mauricio Dominguez, 33, and Jose Dominguez, 21, both of Sonoma, and Mario Carrillo, 29, of Santa Rosa, were taken to Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa.
A witness told the CHP that before the crash, York’s vehicle had crossed into the westbound lane several times to pass slower cars.
Highway 12 was reduced to one lane until about 3 a.m. on Sunday as CHP officers conducted their investigation.
