Woodstock icons, Crosby Stills and Nash will headline the sixth annual Sonoma Jazz+ show on Friday, May 22. Tickets for Sonoma residents go on sale on February 18 at Sonoma Valley Music, starting at 10 a.m. These seats will be available only to purchasers with a Sonoma mailing address. Tickets can also be purchased online, beginning at 9am Pacific at www.sonomajazz.org. Type in the code word LOCAL to be allowed to purchase and enter a valid Sonoma mailing address.
Opening for Crosby Stills and Nash will be Lizz Wright. Wright came to prominence early in the decade as part of a touring tribute to the legendary Billie Holiday, but her three Verve albums – Salt, Dreaming Wide Awake, and the recent The Orchard have established her as one of the outstanding jazz/soul vocalists on the scene today. Sonoma Jazz + patrons already know all about Lizz, having been dazzled by her part in the Herbie Hancock Tribute to Joni Mitchell set in ’08.
Legendary band Earth, Wind and Fire will open the second night of the show on May 22. And while the name of the opening act for Earth, Wind & Fire cannot be released at this time, show organizers promise that this Latin jazz supergroup will get patrons dancing in a heartbeat.
