The Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to the support of excellence in education in our public schools, announced on Tuesday that it had recently awarded some $17,083 in grants.
A total of 13 grants were funded, for special classroom projects in eight different schools. This year’s awards support programs in music, art, early learning, reading, social skills, and parent training for teens.
The Foundation seeks projects that are innovative, creative and student-centered; develop and promote examples of excellence in education; enhance or enrich the current curriculum; and/or fulfill a need in a classroom for materials or experiences that will enhance student learning. Those interested in learning more about the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation can contact Executive Director Fran Meininger at 707-935-9566 or svef-fran@sbcglobal.net.
