Rain did little to dampen the enthusiasm at the Glen Ellen Farmers Market, which debuted Sunday in the parking lot of Jack London Village.

The event will be held Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October.

The market is organized by Agricultural Community Events, which also produces a Saturday farmers market in Marinwood. The group’s Kelly Smith said it was contracted by the Arnold Drive shopping complex to stage the event.

Some 18 vendors took part on Sunday, including sellers of plants, pottery and prepared food. That number will grow as the weather improves – several vendors canceled because of the rain — and more fruit and vegetables ripen to market-ready.

Smith predicted that small, local producers such as Two Moon Farm will emerge to give the market a distinct community feel.
There market has room for more vendors, said Smith. She can be reached at 415.999.5635 or agriculturalcommunityevents@gmail.com.
