Time warp redux

Editor:  On the evening of July 7, my husband and I had the greatest pleasure of seeing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” live! onstage! with fabulous audience participation at the Community Center.  Jonathan leaned over at least three times during the performance to tell me how much fun he was having – his loud guffaws and belly laughs had been my first clue.  It was the most fun I have had at a live stage play.  Never underestimate what a small band of dedicated people can accomplish.
Kudos to Cat Austin, director, and Phillip Sales, producer, for having the courage to bring this wild rumpus of a production to the stage.  The actors, from Cory Sheets as Rocky, to Jessica Salt and Rick Love as Janet and Brad, to Frank Rivard’s campy, sexy, over-the-top perfection as Dr. Frank N’ Furter- (heck, I’d jump him) were a sight to behold.  Magenta, Colombia, Rif-Raf; Phillip Sales as the “Narator,” the chorus girls, the songs, the musicians, the makeup and costumes, and a goodie bag for “audience participation” all were a treat.  My biggest thanks go out to the production for including Andy, the “heckler,” who drove from Davis to lend his skills – I had never heard someone who knew all the audience participation lines as well as he.  At first we were shocked, and then realized this kept the true culture of the show alive, and dynamic.  By the end of the first act we were all screaming not-so-nice words, and feeling naughty and satisfied at getting to participate in what many folks consider a theatrical institution.
This show has been all I have talked about to friends, neighbors, and family for days.  All I can say is Sonomans, you do not want to miss this show.
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
