Big man on campus

Sassarini School alumnus and pro football player Tony Moll visited the campus Thursday to participate in the school’s guest reader program.

The six-foot-five Moll was warmly greeted by fifth-grade teacher Blair Thompson, who told his students that Moll had been in his class “back when I was taller than he was.”

Thompson also shared with the class a school photo from Moll’s day, including the girl he had a crush on. The teacher had also saved a student survey in which Moll received, in the category of ‘most likely to succeed,’ zero votes. He did, though, state his aspiration to play professional sports.

Thompson urged his current students to work hard in following their own dreams. For Moll, that means reaching the NFL and playing for the Baltimore Ravens.

Moll is a 2001 graduate of SVHS. In January, he contributed $5,000 to the school’s football program, a figure matched by the NFL for a grand total of $10,000.
