Free event at museum attracts hundreds

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art hosted a free public event as part of its sixth annual Art Rewards the Student last Saturday. The museum’s Community Day featured special art activities and family-geared entertainment for the nearly 350 who attended the free event. A corresponding exhibition celebrating theater arts dubbed “All the World’s a Stage,” continues through April and features multicultural masks, puppets, and stage sets created by 750 elementary and middle school students.

Among those who entertained at the event was Sebastiani Theater manager Roger Rhoten, who performed a variety of magic tricks for the children who attended Community Day.

With more than 1,000 members, the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art is the largest visual arts organization in the San Francisco North Bay. The museum is open to the general public during exhibitions Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5, free to the public on Sundays, and always free to members.
