Fran Meininger, a Sonoma native known for her work with several local organizations, was named yesterday as the new executive director of the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation (SVEF). Following an extensive nationwide search, the foundation’s board selected the Glen Ellen resident and longtime supporter of youth programs for the position.
From 1989 through 2000, Meininger directed the Valley of the Moon Boys and Girls Club. In 2001, she became a management analyst for the City of Sonoma/Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. More recently, she served as department liaison for the facility renovation project that is nearing completion.
SVEF supports programs in technology, music, art, science and classroom grants within the District. Meininger will assume her new duties shortly after September 1.
