Three House MultiMedia launches cinema division FilmArt3

Staff Report

Three House MultiMedia has officially launched FilmArt3, a new cinema division helmed by in-house producer-writer-director Daedalus Howell, editor of F•L magazine.
Howell’s films have appeared on Showtime, MTV2, the Independent Film Channel and French network Canal+. Howell has assembled a team composed of in-house creative staff and outside talent culled from his experience in film and television development. Howell served on the Sonoma County Economic Development Board’s task force on film prior to forming FilmArt3 under the advisement of Three House MultiMedia president Stephanie Dunn after both recognized the opportunities for a local production entity in the thriving new media and entertainment sector.
“Inasmuch as I believe that technology has emancipated talent from traditional film industry locales, I also believe that ‘place’ is very important for creative communities to flourish,” said Howell. “This is why I think Sonoma is the perfect location to launch a new-media entertainment entity. We’ve got a great mix of creative thinkers here and access to the best tools. The world is currently looking toward Sonoma for its wine and epicuria – I see no reason why we can’t push creative content through that same window and tap into the emerging Sonoma-consciousness with locally-made movies.”
Recent clients of FilmArt3’s industrial division include the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance (including a tribute to the Harvest Wine Auction honorary co-chairs Richard and Alis Arrowood, which starred Tommy Smothers), La Luz Center, Carolyn J. Stone Women’s Health and Wellness Center, Chateau St. Jean winery and Maggie Bafalon of Coldwell Banker, among others. FilmArt3 also produces creative content for SVTV27 and SonomaSun.com and is developing longer form works, including an upcoming feature film.
Howell is also working with instructor Peter Hansen’s video production department at Sonoma Valley High School to bring film and television interns into the Three House fold.
“It’s an exciting time for both cinema and Sonoma. Besides, I’ve often thought that the Three House campus looks like a Hollywood back lot,” said Howell, who added, “We’ve got everything but the water tower.
