One person was killed and three others injured in an accident involving a car and a big rig Wednesday morning on Arnold Drive and Highway 116, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Acura sedan, Artemio Cruz-Quintas was seriously injured in the crash at 6:18 a.m. He was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa were he was treated for major injuries, the CHP said.
The right front seat passenger was killed. His name has not been released pending notification of his family. Two other passengers in the back seat suffered what appeared to be minor injuries, the CHP said. They were taken to area hospitals.
Authorities said Cruz-Quintas was eastbound on 116 when he attempted to turn left onto northbound Arnold Drive against a red light, pulling directly into the path of a westbound 1996 Freightliner.
The driver of the truck, Gustavo Hernandez, 41, of Rohnert Park was not injured.
The accident closed down Highway 116 for more than an hour, backing up traffic during the peak of the commute.
