Despite trying economic times vintner/philanthropist Bruce Cohn and B.R. Cohn Charity Events distributed proceeds from a near record-setting year of fundraising to a variety of charities recently at a wine-tasting mixer at the B.R. Cohn Winery in Glen Ellen. The proceeds were generated by the 23rd Annual B.R. Cohn Charity Events Fall Music Festival and Celebrity Golf Classic. This fall’s concert series, golf tournament, and live auction/dinner raised much needed money for both local charities and veteran’s services.
Over the years Cohn has been able to raise nearly $6 million for various local and national charities including national veteran’s organizations. This year the events benefit local organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley of the Moon and the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance.
“We have had some great charity events here over the past 23 years, but I think everyone will agree that this is one of the very best we have ever produced,” exclaimed B.R. Winery owner, Doobies manager and event producer Cohn. “Without having Journey, the Doobie Brothers and all the other great artists perform basically, just for their expenses, and without the tremendous participation of the 6,000 people who turned out to support the concerts, we could never have raised this much money for charity, especially in these challenging times. It is truly remarkable and a collaboration of everyone’s efforts involved, including that of my great staff and volunteers.”
Plans for next year’s event will be announced after the first of the year.
