Man down

Posted on February 1, 2010 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A collision between a car and a bike on West Napa Street sent the cyclist to the hospital Monday afternoon.

The driver of an Audi, traveling alone eastbound, said he was turning right into a restaurant driveway when the car was jolted on its right side. He said he did not realize it was a collision with a bicycle until the cyclist stood up after the impact. He said the bike must have been traveling eastbound on the sidewalk in the car’s blind spot,

The cyclist was bleeding from the head when medics arrived at 165 W. Napa St. He was immobilized on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to Sonoma Valley Hospital at about 12:45 p.m.

Police continued the investigation, questioning the Audi driver and examining the bicycle and the car’s right-front side.
