UPDATED – Mother and daughter found dead in apartment

Posted on February 20, 2010 by Sonoma Valley Sun

On Friday, February 19 at approximately 10:14 a.m., deputies from the Sonoma Police Department responded to a call to 745 First Street West for the report of a suspicious death.

Deputies arrived and confirmed that there were two deceased persons inside the residence. The case is currently under investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department Violent Crimes Investigations Unit.

The bodies were a mother and her six-year old daughter, apparently a murder-suicide, according to officials with the sheriff’s department. An email put out by the Prestwood PTO, named the victims; mother Amy Beam and her daughter Anjalee Sanchez. Sanchez was a first grader at the school. Prestwood has been hit especially hard in the last year with the untimely deaths of both parents and students. Counselors and other assistance has been put into place to help families and students cope with this latest tragedy.
