Three of five Sonoma city council slots will be contested in the November 2 general election as terms for Ken Brown, Steve Barbose and August Sebastiani expire after four years.
Sonoma residents interested in running for one of the seats may submit nomination papers from July 12 to August 6.
Candidates must be: at least eighteen years of age; a citizen of the United States and a resident of the State of California; a registered voter and a resident within the city limits of Sonoma for not less than 30 days preceding the date of filing candidate papers.
During the nomination period each candidate must collect between 20 and 30 signatures of registered voters residing within the City of Sonoma.
Forms will be available at the city clerk’s office during normal office hours during the Nomination Period. All filing documents must be completed and submitted to the city by 5 p.m. on August 6. If any one of the three incumbents do not file, the deadline will be extended to August 11.
