Best bets for the upcoming weekend.

A swinging Sunday
Vocalist Denise Perrier, a blues and jazz singer with the style and polish of a cabaret chanteuse, joins the jumping Swing Fever band for a concert on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club. Tickets to the 4 p.m. concert are $30 at Readers’ Books or 373-0700. There will be free hors d’ouevres and a no-host wine and beer bar. Proceeds from the event benefit the Woman’s Club Building Fund. The venue is located at 574 First St. E.

String beings
Works by Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert are on the Feb. 12 program by the esteemed Alexander String Quartet, the San Francisco-based, world-traveling ensemble. The 3 p.m. concert is an encore performance of sorts – over the years the quartet has played six acclaimed shows here in Sonoma, under the auspices of the Sonoma Classical Music Society. Tickets to the concert are $25 general, $20 for Society members, and $10 for students. Available at Sonomaclassical.org and at the door, Vintage House, 264 First St. E.

Love Your Park Day
Gen. Mariano Vallejo may have lived in Sonoma, but the center of his 66,000-acre (100 square miles!) working ranch was to the west, at what is now the Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park. The landmark is set for state-ordered closure in July, but you can help raise the funds to keep it open, and a have sweet time in the process, at a Feb. 14 fundraiser at Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma. Food, drink, door prizes, entertainment and an impressive silent auction, all from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 advance at 939.4626 or sonomacommunitycenter.org; $45 at the door. 1280 North McDowell Blvd.
