Misinformed

Editor: This is in response to June Englands letter, “Who built this business” from the 8/2/2012 issue. I’ve never written in before, but felt compelled to after reading her quote from Obama. She stated “If you’ve got a business….you didn’t build that. Someone else made it happen.” That statement was taken out of context by many of the so-called “news” channels. His full statement was basically how you were helped somewhere along the way by someone, be it a teacher, family member, or whomever. When he said “you didn’t build that”, the “that” was referring to the infrastructure we have, like roads, bridges, and the sort that help the logistics of any businesses daily operations. That is what “you” or I didn’t build.

I am not taking anything away from Sebastiani, he definitely worked very hard to start his thriving business. But he too had help, she even said it! He was allowed to take over the family winery with no money out of pocket. He of course paid it back after the five years, like she said. That is still a huge help for anyone trying to start a business.

Just be careful, and make sure you have the full story when you go after somebody like that. I’m not an Obama lover or an Obama hater, just like to be sure everyone has the full story.
