Sassarini janitor jailed for lewd act

A school custodian was arrested today for alleged sexual misconduct involving a Sassarini Elementary School student.

Richard Piskulic, 53, was charged with lewd acts on a minor. The Vallejo man was booked into the Sonoma County jail on $100,000 bail.

The Sonoma Police Department was notified Thursday of an allegation of sexual misconduct involving a school custodian and a young male student.

Officers learned that the student told his mother that the custodian had touched his genitals while in one of the school bathrooms. According to the police report, the detective interviewed the victim, along with his mother, and confirmed the information previously provided to the patrol deputy.

The police department said that due to the sensitive nature of the incident, and because the investigation is ongoing, further details are not being released at this time.

The police department is working with the school district to notify parents and to address any safety concerns they have.

“The school district is fully cooperating with law enforcement,” SVUSD Superintendent Louann Carlomagno said in a letter to school parents. “The district considers student safety its highest priority.”

District counseling staff will be on the Sassarini Elementary School campus and available to students and staff, she said.
