Jack by horseback

Posted on February 19, 2013 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The opportunity to experience Jack London’s Beauty Ranch, just as he did one hundred years ago, on horseback, has returned to the park. Triple Creek Horse Outfit now offers guided horseback tours through the 20-plus miles of trails.

Erin Ellis and Dominic Bettinelli, both Sonoma Valley natives, began Triple Creek in 2003 and operated horseback tours at Jack London as well as at state parks in Kenwood and the Napa Valley. In 2011, with California’s budget crisis threatening to close state parks, they moved the operation to Kunde Estate Family Winery.

After two years there, the opportunity arose to return to their roots, at Jack London Park, and they seized the chance. “The variety in the trails, riding alongside vineyards, among towering redwoods, through golden meadows and bubbling creeks, makes it absolutely the best place to ride a horse of anywhere I know,” Ellis said.
