'If you’re afraid of butter, use cream'

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art’s foodie film festival culminates Thursday, November 7, with the Julia Child of acting, Meryl Streep, playing the grand dame of the American culinary arts in “Julie and Julia.” With Amy Adams as the real-life Julie Powell, who aspired to cook all the recipes in Childs’ cookbook (524) in 365 days, the movie, for better or worse, is the first ever based on a blog. Directed by Nora Ephron.

Pairing bites to the film will be chefs Sondra Bernstein and John Toulze, with wine courtesy of Hughes Family Vineyards. 7 p.m. $15 museum members, $20 general. Registration required at Svma.org.
