Shooting death in Glen Ellen; Plea in deadly DUI

Posted on September 17, 2014 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A Glen Ellen woman was shot and killed by her bedridden husband Saturday night in what officials believe was a case of self-defense.

Alice Rosewsky, 73, was found dead in her home on Warm Springs Road. Deputies were responding to a 911 call from a man who said he had shot his wife after she attacked him with a knife.

The woman died of gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. The man, Hans Rosewsky, 76, was uninjured. He was questioned but not arrested.

Deadly DUI driver pleads guilty

The drunk driver who killed his passenger and paralyzed five-year-old Jazzlin Mejia has plead guilty to 14 felony charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter, related to a horrific two-car crash on October 29, 2013.

Damodar Chandradas admitted he was high on booze and cocaine when he sped around a blind curve on Highway 121. He lost control of his vehicle and swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into another vehicle, injuring the driver Gustavo Mejia and his daughter Jazzlin. Sergei Beoglozan, the passenger in the Chandradas vehicle, died on the scene.

A search of the defendant’s vehicle revealed large quantities of both cocaine and methamphetamine along with a loaded firearm. Chandradas had been driving on a suspended license at the time of the collision. He pled guilty to all charges, including 14 felony charges. He faces up to 31 years in state prison when sentenced on Octiber 16.

Sheriff warns of (yet another) phone scam

Within the past week, several Sonoma County residents have received phone calls from someone claiming to be a representative of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. The caller states that he is with the “Warrants Division” and requests money to be paid for bail for an outstanding warrant. The caller requests that the victim send them money by using a “ MoneyPak green Dot card.”

The callers are not representatives of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office serves arrest warrants in person and does not have a “Warrants Division” call center that accepts payments over the phone.

Anyone who receives this type of phone call is advised to hang up and contact their local law enforcement agency.
