A birthday dream come true
When Gerry (Geraldine) Eagen was asked what she wanted for her 90th birthday, the answer surprised the Council on Aging’s Randy Sue Collins. “I’ve always wanted to fly a small plane” came the reply. She said she’s been dreaming about it for years, Collins said. After recovering from the shock, Collins, who was thinking maybe a pair of slippers, told Gerry “I think I can make that happen for you.”
Marilyn Poggensee and Paul Seibert helped with the details, and Ron Price, manger of Sonoma Skypark Airport, quickly agreed to take her up. The date was October 26, and with friends and family cheering her on, Gerry climbed into Price’s Piper, which even had a stick control for her to take over (briefly) during the hour flight. “She said it was better than she imagined,” Collins said.
