Volunteers needed: La Luz tax program

La Luz Center will again offer a free tax return preparation assistance program “Earn it, Keep it, Save it” and is actively recruiting volunteers to work a few hours a week during tax season.

Last year La Luz helped over 50 individuals and families, with total refunds of over $93,000. The program is not only a great money-saving resource for the Sonoma Valley community—it also offers financial education and empowerment strategies. “Earn it, Keep it, Save it,” is offered locally in collaboration with United Way of Sonoma.

Volunteers are needed now for tax preparation, reception, interpreting, and resource coaching (providing information of additional resources to clients). Spanish language is a big plus, of course, and training in the process is provided.
