Marching orders: join Sonoma’s 4th of July Parade

There’s still time to march in Sonoma’s famous 4th of July Parade — the deadline to enter a group in the patriotic procession is June 27.

The Parade of 60+ entries — vintage cars, horses, floats, community and kids groups, fire trucks, and at least one unicycle — begins at 10 a.m. winding its way around the Plaza.

This year’s theme: “Rocket out of this World,” noting the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

Deadline for applications is June 27 at midnight.

The Parade begins a full day and night of 4th fun. After the parade, enjoy an old-fashioned festival with food,  drink and game booths by Sonoma’s nonprofit organizations. Then, all eyes shift to the skies at dusk above General Vallejo’s field for the spectacular fireworks show,

Why were there no horses in this year’s parade? Very disappointing.
