The National Weather Service has extended the Red Flag Warning through Monday morning. The alert, orginally scheduled to end at 11 a.m. Sunday, cover the entire Bay Area.
More thunderstorms are expected to develop and lightning strikes can lead to new fire starts, given the current heat wave.
Forecasters see a secondary pulse of moisture and instability arriving later today (8/16) and into early Monday. Locally gusty winds are possible near thunderstorms.
Heat Advisories remain in effect through 9 p.m. this evening with the Excessive Heat Warning in some parts of the County in effect until Wednesday evening.
Over the weekend, California Independent System Operator, which oversees California’s power grid, directed utility PG&E to implement rolling blackouts throughout the state, amid increased strain on the power grid.

PG&E has not forecast a Public Safety Power Shutoff for the next seven days.
