Pets Lifeline will soon launch two weekly on-site (out of the house!) programs for youngsters — Animal Kingdom, and Art Camp for Kids.
The sessions of “amazing fun” will be held afternoons and Sunday mornings starting October 21 and October 25, respectively.
“With the success of our Covid-safe summer camp, we have developed two programs to provide a social and educational opportunity for the third-to-sixth to graders of Sonoma Valley,” said Nancy King, executive director.
Pets Lifeline’s Meow Manor, in the shopping center near Sonoma’s Whole Foods, will be base camp, with strict safety protocols in place.
The new programs were developed by PLL Humane Educator Danielle Smith. The after-school program, called Pets Lifeline’s Animal Kingdom, features Smith and Lynette Lyon, an exotic animal trainer and exhibitor. The two will explore animal habitats around the world, culminating in a virtual Safari.
Pets Lifeline’s Animal Kingdom is a four week program, with on-site classes every Wednesdays from 2 to 4:30pm. Program one is October 21 to November 11. The the second program is November 18 to December 9. The cost is $100 for four weeks.
On Sunday mornings, we are adding an Art Camp where the kids can let their creative juices flow. The art will be animal related, as Danielle and former Summer Camp cohort Maria Sporrong Craft will give the kids some great ideas to run with.
Strict Covid protocols will be in effect to ensure a safe experience for the kids. “With so much distance learning, we are glad to be able to host a safe in-person experience that is fun and educational,” King added.
Pets Lifeline’s Art Camp is Sundays from 9:30 am to 12 p.m, starting October 25. Again two sessions are planned before Christmas: October 24 to November 14, and November 21 to December 12. The cost is $100 for four weeks.
