Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation, in partnership with UCSF Health, will host the inaugural Women’s Health Symposium, a fundraiser set for May 13. This virtual educational event is open to the community and will bring together local, regional, and community leaders to interact with world-renowned UCSF medical experts as they discuss cutting-edge information related to women’s cardiological and neurological health.
The featured speakers will be Dena Dubal, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Neurology at UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences (pictured), and Rita Redberg, MD, MS, General Cardiologist, and UCSF School of Medicine Professor. They will present their area of expertise and then field questions from the audience. Andrew Josephson, MD, Professor, Chair, Neurology UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences will serve as moderator.
The Foundation is pleased to debut the event, said Dave Pier, Executive Director. “Thanks to our hospital’s affiliation with UCSF Health we have world renowned physicians interacting with our community members, discussing important aspects of women’s health. We are looking forward to May 13.”
The Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation has a long history of supporting women’s health initiatives. Since 1982 the Foundation’s initiatives have resulted in 1,000 plus women receiving no-cost mammograms that they could not otherwise afford, a new diagnostic center that is nearing completion, a state of the art emergency department and surgery center, along with many hospital equipment upgrades specific to women’s health.
Cherie Hughes, Marcia Levy, and Joan Weill, the executive steering committee, have been instrumental in planning the event, Pier noted.
