Fire season arrives with first Red Flag Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday May 19, 2022, to 5 p.m. Friday May 20, 2022. 

This is the first Red Flag Warning of what is expected to be a long, hot fire season.

A Red Flag Warning that critical fire weather conditions are forecasted. A combination of low relative humidity, high winds, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Winds are forecasted to have gusts up to 45 mph below 1000 feet, and low RH values of 5-12%. 

CAL FIRE urges residents to be prepared, by having an Emergency Supply Kit ready and evacuation plans in place.
