Sandwich shop debuts in Sonoma

By Jonathan Farrell —

Business was busy and “brisket” this week at the newly opened Sourdough & Co. sandwich shop at Sonoma’s Marketplace Shopping Center.

One of the many sandwiches offered is a beef brisket on fresh baked bread. In fact, the bread is something they pride themselves upon as “signature; a bread with benefits.” (Based on the San Francisco-style of sourdough)

Aiming for high quality and friendly accommodating service, Sourdough & Co. seems to be meeting its goal as the patrons offered raves for the new sandwich, soup and salad shop.

Founded in El Dorado Hills in 2009, the franchise has been steadily building its brand and reputation. It currently has 24 shops with plans to open more.

Offering a somewhat healthier alternative to fast food, Sourdough & Co. provides baked bread that is nitrate-free and meat sandwiches are hormone-free.

“It took a while for us to open the Sonoma shop” said manager Jot Manjot. She hopes that locals will consider this among their first choices in town as a regular lunch spot.

In addition to an array of sandwiches, Sourdough offers a gourmet-quality selection of salads that can be either a side to a soup and sandwich or perhaps a meal in itself.

Why the emphasis on sourdough? The company believes it’s the best bread for sandwiches.. It’s prebiotic and probiotic-like properties may further improve digestion.

Sourdough & Co offers a bread bowl of soup that changes daily, in addition to a traditional New England Clam Chowder.

201 West Napa Street, Suite 8 Open 7 days a week 10:30am-7pm. 707.938.7061.
