Gracias to Val Robichaud

With so much uncertainty these days, the passing of local publisher Val Robichaud and the possible discontinuance of his journalistic contribution to the community, the Sonoma Valley Sun newspaper, are distressing losses, both intellectual and emotional.

Besides learning about local issues in the Sun’s news reporting, I have enjoyed the alternative opinions offered by the paper’s columnists. Neither of these sources of information would have been possible without the foresight and caring of Val.

I even had the opportunity to make a small contribution on issues reflecting the Latino community, for which I will forever be grateful. While I never felt that my voice was the only voice, I understood the need for that population’s representation in the Sun’s column “Voices of the New Majority.” Val understood that too.

So I join many other readers and writers in expressing my admiration and appreciation for what Val Robichaud gave to Sonoma Valley. His perception and sympathetic understanding of what’s important in life will be sorely missed.

Gracias. Dios lo bendiga.
