Sonoma Overnight Support, SOS, shared the good news that, because of their new kitchen, they were able to receive large quantities of donations from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Redwood Empire Food Bank, and Sonoma Market. SOS can now store more food in seven refrigerators and freezers, one walk-in freezer, one walk-in refrigerator , and we also maintain a community refrigerator.
Last month this helped SOS serve 317 unique individuals. Of those, 252 have used their services before, and 65 were new clients, most of whom are housed.
The bad news is that an enormous amount of electricity is required to keep all of the new refrigerators and freezers operational and at the correct temperature. The SOS PG&E bill last month was $1,543.
Kathy King, Director, reports: “Here at SOS, we are doing all we can to accomplish our mission of feeding the hungry in Sonoma and Sonoma Valley. Please consider making a donation to offset the overhead cost that continues to rise as we serve more and more meals to those in need.”
