Valley Swim Club
Valley Swim Club opening around the same time as the new pool at Sonoma Valley High School may have been confusing for someJ, and I can’t help but wonder if the sign outside the restaurant that reads, “NO SWIMMING” was put there as a matter of necessity. Interestingly, though there is no swimming, Valley Swim Club does, in fact, have ties to water.
Swim Club is a fast-casual seafood restaurant, think: California clam shack. At its heart, this is an inclusive space for eating, drinking and festivity. They serve sustainable seafood and farm produce at reasonable prices in a casual and convivial space.
Following in the footsteps of the restaurant before them in this location, (Delicious Dish, which has now moved to 565 Fifth Street West), Valley Swim Club is hosting some wonderfully curated events. I never expected to see an ad for “Stud Country’s Queer Line Dancing” in Sonoma, but I’m so glad that I did because it inspired me to find out more about this new restaurant.
Still in their infancy, VSC will celebrate their first year in October. Their other restaurant, Valley, on the Sonoma Plaza where Harvest Moon used to be, (Harvest Moon became Baker & Cook, 18812 Highway 12 CA-12 in Boyes Hot Springs) has been open and thriving for four years now.
I asked VSC if they had any upcoming events of note and was told, “We are working on Labor Day Sunday programming, stay tuned!” If you want to follow their advice and stay tuned, you can join their email list ––The Weekly Dive–– which provides a weekly update on their current Blue Plate Special and any upcoming programming. The newsletter sign-up can be found on their website, the address of which is not surprisingly thoughtful and creative, and very in keeping with the Valley vibe. valleyswim.club
