Experience the brilliance of one of art’s most iconic figures this October 19 and 20 as actor, director, and producer Jim Jarrett brings Vincent Van Gogh to life on the Rotary Stage in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center. Jarrett will perform Leonard Nimoy’s acclaimed one-man play, “VINCENT,”’ which reveals the often misunderstood artist through poignant letters exchanged between Vincent and his brother Theo.
Based on over 500 letters, the play examines the life of Vincent Van Gogh from the perspective of Theo, Vincent’s lifelong supporter. Throughout the play, more than a hundred of Van Gogh’s paintings are projected on a framed screen providing a rich overview of the artist’s work as well as a visual complement to the unfolding story.
This special presentation is a collaborative effort between the Rotary Clubs of Sonoma Valley and the Sonoma Community Center, aiming to support the renovation of the Sam Morphy Family Community Room. The Rotary Clubs spearheaded an effort to transform Room 200 at the Center into a meeting room, increasing capacity for public activities and programs at the historic Sonoma Community Center.
A gala performance will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 7 p.m., including a pre-show reception and a post-show champagne meet-and-greet with Jarrett. A community performance will follow on Sunday, October 20 at 1 p.m. Both events include a Q&A session with the actor after the show.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting September 18 at SonomaCommunityCenter.org
