Early morning brush fire near Sonoma Valley church

The cause of this morning’s 2:30 a.m. fire in the field behind Saint Leo’s Church, on West Agua Caliente Road, is under investigation, according to Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue.

No buildings were threatened or damaged. The fire burned about one acre. Crews remained on site well into the afternoon to deal with hot spots.

Sonoma Valley Fire crews worked alongside assisting crews from Cal Fire Glen Ellen station and with support from Kenwood Fire Department’s Water Tender. It was the second multi-agency response less than 12 hours: Hwy 12 fire in Sonoma.

Sonoma Valley Engine crews currently remain on scene mopping up hot spots through the morning hours. Thank you again to our neighboring agencies who responded alongside us more than once in 24 hours,  and who are always key to seamlessly serving our community whenever we are called upon. #SVFD #readysetgo
